Hope all is well wherever this message finds you, we had so many people from so many places staying with us last season, All the Euros from Finland to Spain, Dr
Pado from Hawaii, the China connection, Japanese locals, Canadian Huskys, NZeders(yes they won the RWC) & Oz students . Time flies and we are back in Hakuba after
a brief hiatus, preparing the lodge for the summer, not a whole lot to do just cleaning and tidying up. After winter has passed it's a good idea to check how the
building held up over the long cold season, we'll do some painting and maintenance over the next few months to get it up to scratch. The world famous Snowlines
Baths are currently getting some TLC we are testing for cracks! No the other type – just trying to find out where all the water and $$$ goes.
We have a few guests booked in over summer & they will love the perfect weather & scenery Hakuba offers. Currently the valley is in picture perfect condition, the
rice fields have burst forth with the new crop(see pictures below) and everyone is busily attending their Vege patches. Hiking provides a great way to see the wild
mountain flowers & feel awe struck from the views, if anyone is interested in a yoga retreat weekend in August let us know, as we have Mae Uemura coming to align
your body. It’s amazing how often friends ask about it but yes, there is still some snow to be seen at high altitudes but it won't last much longer.
Recently Sarasa & I travelled to Okinawa for her Sister’s wedding - congratulations to Eri-chan & Yuhei! Mr & Mrs Shimodaira make a beautiful couple and a great time was had by all. The ocean surrounding Okinawa is stunning and if you’re into Scuba diving you should plan a trip. If you ever get down that way be sure to check Churaumi Aquaruim – it has a awesome dolphin show for the kids, and some huge tanks for viewing the multitude of creatures from the deep. For the Military history buffs there is plenty to see as they should know how important & devastating 'The Battle of Okinawa' was to both sides nearing the end of WW2.
We’re taking a few bookings already for winter 2012/13 so it looks like things will pick up after the slower season of 2011/12. With the winter months in Southern
Hemisphere providing only a taste of a real snow holiday and the summer everywhere else keeping you honest, do make sure you start scheduling a trip to visit us
and get some Hakuba pow. We are ready to help you plan and provide the same relaxed vibe and attentive service that you’re used to. Drop us a line or Skype with
us to let us know your dates.
